The name TARTANSIDE has been synonymous with quality Collies for five decades. From its humble beginnings our goal has always been to produce dogs that are not only aesthetically beautiful but who are also intelligent and fun loving, bearing the true essence of Collie character.

Fortunate in having some of the "great" Collie breeders as mentors, Tartanside has always adopted their advice - coupled with the Collie Standard - to breed Collies of outstanding type. We breed on a relatively moderate scale, never finding the need to breed in large quantities in order to produce outstanding individuals. Instead, we select what we consider to be the finest individuals possessing superior breed type and character and use only those in the breeding population. We prudently linebreed for the characteristics that we feel are most significant at any given time, and then we carefully select individuals to use in succeeding generations. Judicious outcrosses are made when necessary to improve hybrid vigor and to add desired characteristics into the gene pool. This formula has helped us to establish a consistency in quality over many, many generations.

The Tartanside family of stud dogs and brood bitches has produced over 300 American and Canadian Champions, as well as champions around the world. Over 100 of these have been homebreds. As proud as we are of the Tartanside dogs who have completed their championships, we are equally proud of the ones who have earned performance titles in obedience, agility and herding. We are humbled as well, when we hear of the feats our collies have performed as canine good citizens and service/therapy dogs, for to us, these characteristics are what Collies are all about. Our reputation for selling our best ones speaks for itself.

We invite you to view our website and visit with some of our Collies past and present.
